Nautilus Designs evolved from the company Eliza Tinsley Ltd, a brand established in 1851. We draw nearly two centuries of knowledge and experience to create a new, vibrant and innovative outfit with an aim to bring quality products at competitive prices whilst continuously addressing the needs of an ever-changing marketplace.

Why “Nautilus”?

The concept behind the name lies in the idea of mathematical perfection - specifically the logarithmic spiral. One of the types of logarithmic spirals is the golden spiral which has a growth factor of φ, the golden ratio. This ratio appears in many areas in the world around us- whether it be architecture, art, music or even nature. Biologists, artists, musicians, historians and architects, have pondered and debated the basis of its ubiquity and appeal. In fact, it is probably fair to say that the Golden Ratio has inspired thinkers of all disciplines like no other number in the history of mathematics

 It is this idea of fundamental perfection, which encapsulates the spirit of our company and challenges us in the way we work, evolve and bring products to our customers, which not only fit their requirements, but also exceed their expectations.  

Our Company Today

We are a leading distributor of office furniture and shelving. The company has a worldwide manufacturing network and two U.K. based warehouses with over 250,000ft of space. There are many business and product developments on the horizon, as well as the new branding implementation, which encompasses a focus on every area across the business.

We pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service and a wide range of quality products, coupled with the ability to source new designs or products to meet our customers’ requirements. We have a highly experienced and enthusiastic team, all striving to provide the best possible service.

Making a difference

We are very conscious of the effects commercialisation has on the environment and our duty towards the planet we live on.  We are continuously looking at ways we can make a difference, and improve the effect our business has on the world around us.

So, what are we doing to promote change?

Our company mission very much revolves around reducing our carbon footprint and being an environmentally and ethically responsible company. We promote the need to have the mindset of an eco-entrepreneur.

We have significantly reduced our paper usage over the years, and continue to strive towards becoming a paperless business. Some departments have changed their entire procedure in order to avoid printing and work towards our paperless initiative.

Where possible, we opt for all electric or hybrid company cars to reduce consumption of fossil fuels. Climate change is very real and we want to play whatever small a part we can to drive the change.

We adhere to strict packaging and waste regulations and do our best to reduce the waste generated, with a long-term goal to be completely single use plastic free.

We embrace our corporate social responsibilities and donate a part of our profits to charities. We fund the education of young girls in developing countries and supply food supplies to homeless shelters. Amongst others, we also donate towards coffee mornings, charity walks and the MIND foundation.
